Terms of Service
Published / last updated:
These terms govern Folemi, provided by YOSHINOBU TAKAHASHI (trading as Matorisuka, the “operator”). For personal information, see the Privacy Policy; for sales conditions, see the Commercial Disclosure should also be reviewed.
1. Service and requirements
Folemi provides AI explanations of selected words and short passages, storage of terms, explanations, sources and memos, suggested connections, knowledge notes, cross-device synchronization, and export. Available functions and devices are described in the released app and distribution information.
The Mac version is a free, invitation-only beta, with no card registration or billing. AI features require access for an invited account. iPhone and iPad versions are in preparation. Supported systems and devices are listed on the download and Commercial Disclosure pages. Users supply their internet connection, supported devices, and rights to use Kindle and books as needed.
Folemi is not an official Amazon service and implies no affiliation with Amazon or Kindle. Changes to Kindle or other services, copy limits, or OS permissions may prevent importing text.
2. Accounts
Manage your sign-in account appropriately and contact support if you suspect unauthorized use. Minors must obtain the consent of a legal representative where needed for a contract.
Saved knowledge and access rights belong to your Folemi account. One active subscription on the same account covers supported devices. Creating a separate account with another sign-in method does not automatically merge dictionaries or subscriptions.
3. AI explanations, knowledge, and rights
AI output can contain errors, omissions, or inappropriate connections. Check original sources when needed and review what you save. Accuracy and the absence of third-party rights issues are not universally guaranteed.
Only import material within your rights and permissions, and respect book and app terms and copy limits. Folemi does not bypass copy restrictions or DRM. The input character limit does not establish that use is lawful under copyright law.
Your rights in memos and other input remain yours. Third-party rights remain with their holders. The operator processes input and saved content, sends it to AI, and stores or syncs it as needed for the service. Saving does not constitute consent to sell reading content or collect model-training data.
You choose whether to save explanations or notes. Keep important knowledge using Markdown export or similar tools. Check your own and third-party rights before using exported material in other apps or publishing it.
4. Paid plans and payment
The planned price for Japan is JPY 500 per month including tax, renewing automatically each month . Each renewal is billed until cancellation is complete. There is no mandatory multi-month commitment. No per-search surcharge is planned for ordinary manual explanation requests while reading.
After sales open, contracts follow the purchase screen and consent process. Review prices, included features, term, renewal, payments, cancellation, and refunds before confirming. Any promotions or trials will show their conditions. No offer that automatically converts a free trial to a paid plan is currently accepted.
Direct Mac purchases are planned to use Stripe card payments; iPhone and iPad purchases will use Apple in-app purchases. The first payment is due at purchase, then according to the provider’s renewal dates and billing method. Apple’s conditions also apply to management and refunds of Apple purchases. Users pay their own communications and device costs.
Paid features will generally become available immediately after payment. If a purchase is missing, check the subscription or contact support instead of purchasing again. Suspected duplicate charges on the same account will be investigated with the purchase provider and corrected or refunded as appropriate.
5. Renewal, cancellation, and refunds
For Stripe purchases, open the Stripe portal from Folemi and stop renewal before the next renewal date and time. For Apple purchases, stop renewal in Apple’s subscription management. We recommend doing so at least 24 hours before an Apple renewal date.Apple’s cancellation instructions should also be reviewed.
After stopping renewal, access continues until the end of the paid period shown by your purchase provider. Deleting the app, signing out, or changing devices does not cancel a subscription.Confirm cancellation with your purchase provider even if you request account deletion.
Because this is a digital service, refunds or prorated refunds for a change of mind after service begins are generally unavailable. Exceptions include duplicate charges, failure attributable to the operator, or refunds required by law. For Apple purchases, use Apple’s refund process . This notice does not restrict your statutory rights.
After the subscription ends, paid features such as new AI explanations become unavailable. Viewing and exporting saved knowledge remain available while the account is active and the service continues.
6. Usage rules
Rights infringement, unlawful content, unauthorized access, bypassing authentication or copy limits, unauthorized use of another account, and excessive automated processing that disrupts the service are prohibited.
Temporary controls may be applied to automated or abnormally concentrated access for reliability and abuse prevention. This will not result in extra charges without consent. Except where urgent harm prevention is needed, responses to violations will include checking circumstances, notice, and an opportunity to correct them.
7. Changes, interruption, and closure
Features may change or be interrupted for maintenance, incidents, abuse prevention, or changes to external services or operating systems. Planned major changes or closure will be announced in advance where possible. In emergencies, notice may follow afterwards.
If a paid service becomes unavailable due to the operator, access periods, cancellation, or refunds will be handled according to circumstances and law. Where possible, users will have an opportunity to export knowledge before closure.
8. Liability and statutory rights
The operator is liable for attributable loss under Japan’s Civil Code, Consumer Contract Act, and other applicable laws. Liability for intent or gross negligence is not excluded, and no unlawful exclusion of liability or restriction of user rights applies.
If part of these terms is invalid under law, the other provisions apply to the extent lawful.
9. Changes to terms and governing law
Changes are made within the methods and scope permitted by the Civil Code and other laws, with notice of the content and effective date. Individual consent will be obtained where required.
These terms are governed by Japanese law, without excluding mandatory consumer protections or other applicable mandatory provisions. Jurisdiction over disputes follows applicable law.
